"I'm proud to be captain of this team."

  • Antonin Berruyer

How did you react to your appointment as captain?

"I didn't necessarily expect it. At the beginning of the season, the staff told me that I needed to gain more confidence in this group. But I learned it this week, with great pride. I will take this responsibility, take pleasure in it, and then I will not necessarily change the person I am, because I have that role. I'm happy but very focused and, like everyone else, I really want to play a big game in Castres. "

Do you already know what you're going to say to your teammates before the game?

"I think that prepared speeches are often not the best. So it will come in due course. I'll say what will come in due course. I know that I will have the support of some elders like Lucas or Fabien who will be able to help me with the speech and complete it. I don't necessarily have the experience of having that role, at that level. I'll see tomorrow and I'll probably figure out what to say. "

How are you taking this appointment of coaches?

"It's a sign of trust. It's really nice to see you. I am proud to be captain of this team. That's why I'll try to restore that confidence in the field tomorrow. "

The team will experience a big turnover in Castres

"It's a team that spins a little, but it's a team that still performs very well with players who are revengeful, experienced players. I think we have nothing to envy the teams in the first three days. We're going to play our card hard. Just because the team has turned a little bit, doesn't mean we have to go to Castres as an expiatory victim. I think we have our card to play. The season is long, so as soon as we are called upon, we must be there. "

How do you apprehend this trip to the champion's house?

"He's the defending French champion! But we're not going to go out there and watch them play. We're going to play hard from the first to the 80th. We're going to try to play our cards right. We don't play rugby to watch the French champions, we play rugby to confront them and see where we stand. "
