FCG lost for the opening day

  • Bastien Guillemin

Grenoble lost to Colomiers (20-23)

The FCG started its season against a team of revengeful Colomiers.

The start of the game is balanced. Colomiers held the ball, but failed to erase Grenoble's good defence. The two goalscorers were the ones who answered each other (6-3, 18').

After regaining control of the ball, the Grenoble team managed to find a hole in the opponent's defence. Thibaut Martel eliminated three defenders, fixed the opposing back and served Clément Ancely, his captain, for the first try of the match (13-3, 26')

Deon Fourie recovered, Enzo Selponi feigned and brought the game to the 22 opponents. After several game times, the Icelandic usher found Bastien Guillemin, who dived behind the line (20-3, 39').

At the beginning of the second half, Colomiers took advantage of the Grenoble failures to reduce the score (20-9, 62'), before sticking a try thanks to his winger Vici (20-16, 66')

In the last minutes of the game, when the FCG had the ball, a Grenoble man lost it. A few seconds later, Vici scored his second attempt of the evening (20-23, 71')

The Grenoble team will not be able to regain the score. They start the season with a first loss at home. The "Rouge & Bleu" will have to get back on track next Thursday, on the lawn of Carcassonne.
