Grenoble too short, but the FCG comes home with a defensive bonus point

The FCG travelled to Mont-de-Marsan for the first game of the second block of the championship.

Despite a yellow card start for Raymond Rhule and the outings of Alaska Taufa, Davit Kubriashvili and Pablo Uberti, the Grenoble side took the lead thanks to two penalties from Gaëtan Germain and a drop from Enzo Selponi, both of which were successful in the Isèrois' rare forays into the opposing camp (0-9, 32'). It is indeed the people of Montois who dominate, both in terms of possession and occupation, but the visitors' defence is well in place and repels the attacks of the "Yellow & Black" (3-9, 38')

In the last action of the first half, the "Rouge & Bleu" sailed over the 22 opponents, then Raymond Rhule found the fault. He sent the ball to Nathanaël Hulleu, who scored his first pro try for his first appearance at this level (3-14, 40')

In the second half, the Montois proved to be more efficient and made up for it thanks to Christophe Loustalot (9-14, then 12-17, 62'). But, the FCG managed to widen the gap on a good breakthrough of Gaëtan Germain, Enzo Selponi kicked a small kick in the 22 opponents. Christophe Loustalot cannot control the ball, Taleta Tupuola grabs the ball and gives it to Jérémy Valençot, for his second try of the season (12-24, 67')

Unfortunately, in the meantime, the Montois took advantage of the FCG's defensive errors to get back on track with a try from Lestremau (19-24, 69'). On the same type of action, this time in the middle of the field, Wakaya, already decisive on the previous try, stuck to it alone to allow his team to pass in front (26-24, 74').

The FCG, which will have a last opportunity to pass on a penalty, unfortunately missed by Franck Pourteau, sees its series of victories end in the Landes. The Isèrois temporarily climbed back up to the level of Soyaux-Angoulême at the top of the Pro D2, before the other matches of the fifth day.

The next event for the "Rouge & Bleu" is the Dauphiné derby, on 4 October next, against Valencia-Romans.
