FCG grabbed a bonus point win in Angoulême (3-28)

The FCG went to Angoulême this Friday for the 7th round of Pro D2, where the Grenoble leader faced his Charente second.

The first half did not really reveal the level of the two teams, with a lot of slag and a lot of scrums to play. But, in this game, Grenoble is the one that was doing the best. After a penalty scored by Enzo Selponi on the first time of the "Rouge & Bleu" into the opposing camp (0-3, 13'), the FCG scored the first try of the game, on a ball played quickly by Bastien Guillemin. Ange Capuozzo follows well, then Clément Ancely kicks the ball. Raymond Rhule, the fastest, controlled it and scored (0-10, 15')

Without being really endangered, the FCG enters the dressing room with a 10 point lead at the break (3-13)

The game gets carried away just before the hour of play. Angoulême had a first opportunity to score a try, on a penalty quickly played by its scrum-half, but the ball was recovered by the isèroise defence. The local kicker then missed a penalty. Then it was Grenoble's turn to have a great opportunity to try: Enzo Selponi gave a long pass to Bastien Guillemin, the winger kicked the ball, but the Grenoble team then dithered and Mickaël Capelli made a kock-on before the try line. On the following action, the "Rouge & bleu" scored a penalty (3-16, 58')

The Grenoble team then took advantage of the Charente's lack of discipline to build a definitive gap in the score. After a first yellow card for Anthony Coletta, on a melee in the middle of the field, Enzo Selponi extended the pass for Pablo Uberti. The former Bordeaux player took over the entire opponent's defence and sent Raymond Rhule to score his second try (3-21, 64')

Younes El Jai was then sanctioned with a yellow card. On the following penaltouche, Etienne Fourcade was close to scoring, but he had put his foot on the sideline and Angoulême was able to clear. But on this next line-out, the Grenoble-drive ball smashed the opponent's defence. Jeremy Valençot then pulled the ball out for Alaska Taufa, which extended his arm to score the bonus try (3-28, 70')

The Grenoble team will then manage the end of the match and kept this bonus point taken on the Angoulême pitch. The FCG thus strengthened its leadership position before hosting Nevers on Sunday 20 October at the Stade des Alpes.
