High-risk trip

The FCG will visit Perpignan on Sunday, for the twelfth round of Pro D2

The Pro D2 teams will soon complete the first half of the regular season. With four games left to play in the first leg, the FCG is well established at the top of the Pro D2, with 39 points, ahead of Oyonnax (38 points) and Perpignan (32 points). But the Grenoble calendar offers an end of the year at the top: the "Rouge & Bleu" will face the other two podium teams, Biarritz (currently sixth) and Rouen.

The first of these big posters will take place on Sunday, with the FCG's trip to Perpignan. The two teams meet for a third consecutive season where their destiny seems to be linked: they both went up two years ago, before dropping back down last season. This year, they will probably be struggling to recover next June.

In difficulty at the beginning of the season, especially on the road (only one win in 6 games), the Catalans could have obtained their second win last week in Oyonnax, where they failed by 2 points from the Oyomen at the very end of the game (21-19). At home, however, USAP is undefeated, with 5 wins in as many games. They even scored more than 40 points in their last 3 games at Aimé Giral (48-10 against Angoulême, 44-17 against Mont-de-Marsan and 47-17 against Vannes).

Not surprisingly, it is a dangerous trip that awaits the "Rouge & Bleu" on Sunday. But they also know that if they win, they could build a comfortable gap in the standings before heading into the winter.

The latest results

In his last 4 games, Perpignan beat Mont-de-Marsan (44-17), lost in Nevers (14-10), beat Vannes (47-17) and lost in Oyonnax (21-19)

The next games

Perpignan will host Biarritz for the beginning of the fourth block, before travelling to Valence-Romans and then hosting Montauban before Christmas.
