FCG take a bonus point at Racing 92

  • Fabien Alexandre
  • Laurent Bouchet
  • Chris Farrell

FCG played in Colombes for the 12th round of the Top 14

A real opposition of styles on the lawn of the Racing 92, between strong Francilians and Grenoblois players.

In the French championship, the FCG started the match badly, with an attack on the start of the Racing 92. The Parisians then camped in the 22 Grenoblois before finally scoring the first try of the match (7-0, 7').

No blast for the "Rouge & Bleu"! On a raise from his 22, the FCG managed to create the lag and Fabien Alexandre can score for Grenoble (7-7, 13').

The Francilians play essentially with their forwards to try to puncture the defense of Grenoble, but it is the latter who has the upper hand in this early game. The FCG controls the ball and also tries to find the flaw to score. In vain.

The Racing 92 managed to put on a second try (14-7, 31') before Jonathan Wisniewski reduced the penalty score (14-10, 36'). The last minutes of the half-time are difficult for Grenoble, but after a test refused to the video, the defense "Red & Blue" wins his arm to put the FCG 4 points of his opponent at the break.

The start of the second half is favorable to the FCG. After the quick exit of Gio Aplon, injured, Fabrice Estebanez finds a key in the 22 of the Racing. The throw of Dimitri Szarzewski lobe everyone and Laurent Bouchet can score! Grenoble pass before the transformation of Jonathan Wisniewski (14-17, 45').

The French champions will then wake up and score three times, one after the other, despite a heroic defense of the FCG. François Van der Merwe scored first with a ball from the FCG (21-17, 58'), Henry Chavancy (26-17, 65') and a penalty from Dambielle (29 -17,69').

But the Grenoblois did not deserve to leave without a point. After a 5- for the FCG, the forwards pound the opposing defense and it is Chris Farrell, launched, who scores (29-24, 72').

The last 8 minutes will be in favor of the FCG. Laurent Bouchet, on a new touch with 5, was denied a try, because his throw had not done 5 meters. The Grenoblois will try everything, but they will not be able to score.

Despite this defeat (29-24), the FCG recovers a new bonus point (the first conceded by Racing 92 on its field this season) and confirm its progress sighted for several weeks. After a week of holidays, the players will receive Montpellier on December 3 at the Stade des Alpes for the next day of championship.
