"Give everything to save Grenoble"

  • Lilian Saseras

Engaged with the FCG until 2020, Lilian Saseras wants to do everything possible to maintain the club in Top 14

Substitue at the begining of the match between the FCG and the Racing 92, Lilian Saseras quickly came into play, to replace Armand Batlle, released on concussion. On the wing, the scrum-half struggled for an hour in attack and defense.

His match at the wing

"In the week I trained to cover this position, but there was also the possibility of getting Fabrice Estebanez in the back and drag Gio Aplon to the wing ... On the spot , there is a moment of flutter, and no one tells me to go home. So, I left anyway. I had already played matches against clients: Benito Masilevu in Brive, Axel Muller in Toulon, David Smith in Castres ... There, I got right to Joe Rokocoko and Teddy Thomas, it's nice too. Especially since on our first contact, Rokocoko smashed me the odds! Faced with this type of guys, we get very small, we try above all not to get caught in speed. Anyway, when he makes me go back to the wing, Bernard Jackman does not expect me to cross the field. Rather do a good work for the team ... Anyway, it is a position that I begin to know, where I have also evolved at 7. I have some benchmarks. [Bernard?] Oh, he can put me where he wants: scrum, wing ... I'm happy as far as I play. We must save this club. "

His progress

"Two years ago, I wanted to break my contract to go to Federal 1! My agent told me that Soyaux-Angoulême was interested and I only wanted to play ... But Fabrice Landreau convinced me that for me the best solution was to continue working. I questioned myself, and realized that I was not ready yet. Bernard Jackman also promised me that I would have some play time at the end of the season. I then began to work accordingly ... In fact, I became aware that my expectations at that time did not correspond to my real level. I then made a great individual preparation during the summer, on the advice of Bernard Jackman and Philippe Doussy. With Philippe, we have done a specific job, from the individual technic and specific video. Then, at the end of the season, Bernard Jackman gave me the carrot that I expected, since I was able to play for two or three months. The club offered me a one-year extension, telling me that I started number 3 in the hierarchy but that everything could evolve. For the time being, it has gone well for me, since I had the chance to extend three years. But the ultimate goal, I repeat, is to give everything to save the FCG at the end of the season. "

His career at the FCG

"I spent 10 years in youth teams at the CSBJ. I am Lyonnais, and my mother worked at Saint-Exupéry airport. As Bourgoin was in the middle, it was the logical solution ... Yet, I feel deeply Grenoblois. I arrived here by choice seven years ago, to live something strong with people that I appreciate enormously. It was at the FCG that I learned high level rugby. I want to give everything to save the club. The journalists talk to us all the time [about relegation], so we have to think about it! But it is true that it is perhaps this perspective that finally allowed me to settle. So far, I've always had very short contracts. One year and a half, one year ... As this is the first season of leaflets, this time, I was offered a three-year contract to participate in this project of FCG 2020, where the objective Is to evolve with a maximum of players trained at the club. I am delighted to be part of this project. That is why I have not set a clause in case of relegation. "
