The "Rouge & Bleu" went to Sapiac for the fourth round of the championship
In the final stages of Pro D2, FCG had a big test against Montauban, after three games won in as many rounds since the start of the season.
The Grenoblois begin the game with difficulty, showing a lot of indiscipline. They conceded several penalties transformed by the home striker, Jérôme Bosviel (9-0, 17 ', then 12-3, 26 ').
It is finally Grenoble who scores the first try of the match. After a somewhat hazardous pass by Steven Setephano for Nigel Hunt, the FCG center kicks the ball to Eddie Sawailau, who flatters the ball in the in-goal (12-10, 29 '). Adrien Latorre added three points at the end of the first half: the FCG is in front of the break (12-13)
Montauban starts strong again and passes the lead (15-13, 41 '). The part then equilibrates fairly quickly. The Grenoble hold the ball, but they struggle to find space in the first curtain of defense of the USM. They nevertheless pass a new penalty (15-16, 55 ').
In the wake, Montauban plays a penalty in the 22 of the FCG. The drive-ball does not work, but the ball comes into the hands of Tupuola, launched, who scores under the posts (22-16, 59 '). Bosviel then added a new penalty (25-16, 62 ')
The "Rouge & Bleu" will then put their hands on the ball. But after a 3 minutes in the 22 of the opposite side, the Grenoblois must concede a melee.
At the end of the game, the players of the FCG and the Montalbanese share the possession of the ball. It is finally on a last opportunity and after another long sequence in the opponents, the ball arrives in the hands of Nigel Hunt who can transmit, to Bastien Guillemin. The winger scores and allows his team to leave with a point (25-22, 80 ')
This is the first defeat for Grenoble this season, but the "Red & Blue" nevertheless bring a point of this trip to Montauban. The FCG will receive Béziers on Friday 15 September at the Stade des Alpes for the next day of the championship.
