Grenoble won in Carcassonne

  • Etienne Fourcade
  • Burton Francis
  • Lolagi Visinia

The FCG went for its third away victory

There is no easy game in Pro D2. This is the leitmotif Stéphane Glas since the beginning of the season, Alexandre Dardet recalled before the meeting. At the red lantern, the Grenoble leader had to fight to win, thanks to an impeccable realism in the 22 opponents, the boot of Burton Francis and a heroic defense.

At the beginning of the game, the Grenoblois are caught by the aggressiveness of the players Carcassonne. They are the ones who mark the first, thanks to the kicks of Gilles Bosch and especially those, long distance, Antoine Renaud (9-0, 19 '). The Grenoblois are struggling to set up their game before the heraldic defense of the Audois. It was finally after a breakthrough by Steven Setephano, well followed by Etienne Fourcade, that the FCG reduced the score (9-7, 25 '). Burton Francis, who replaced David Mélé, evacuated on stretcher shortly before the Grenoble try, then kick several penalties to allow the Grenoblois to pass in front of the break (12-13, 40 ')

The game, already chopped in the first half, is even more in second. Neither Grenoble nor Carcassonne manage to control the game and players commit many things. It is finally the locals who will hit the first, thanks to his forwards who get two penalties on melee and balloon carried, converted by Antoine Renaud (18-13, 68 '). After a new penalty from Burton Francis, the "Rouge & Bleu" will enjoy their first stint in the 22 opponents to score their second try of the match: the ball is played behind the ball worn Grenoble, Kilian Geraci finds the interval before that Burton Francis sends the ball on Lolagi Visinia who flattens in the goal (18-23, 77 ').

The last minutes are endless. After a ball worn perfectly countered by the Grenoblois, Carcassonnais multiply the scrums under the posts of the FCG. But after the ball finally comes out of one of them, the Grenoble defense goes well and challenges the ball perfectly.

This victory, the ninth in eleven games, allows the FCG to consolidate its leading position, before going to Perpignan Sunday, November 12.
