The FCG ends 2017 with a victory

  • Dylan Hayes
  • Lolagi Visinia

The "Rouge & Bleu" have signed another home win (28-23)

The FCG was a little reassured by winning against Bayonne. Author of two trys, Lolagi Visinia contributed to this success, as Dylan Hayes, decisive for his first try of the season.

The match begins perfectly for the "Red & Blue": Lilian Saseras hits the foot over the defense, Lolagi Visinia goes faster than his defender and flattens the ball before he goes out in a dead ball (7-0, 2 '). After a penalty of Burton Francis (10-0, 9 '), the Grenoblois left the ball to the Bayonnais, who nevertheless fail to pierce the Isérois defensive curtain. Emmanuel Saubusse and Adrien Latorre, who had temporarily replaced Burton Francis, each score a penalty, to reduce the score to 13-3 at the break.

The second period begins as the first, but on the other side. Bayonne scores quickly, after a sequence poorly managed by the Grenoblois in their 22 (13-10, 43 '). After a first failure, Emmanuel Saubusse equalizes a few minutes later (13-13, 50 '). At 14 against 15, the FCG nevertheless takes the advantage, thanks, again, to his rear, which has followed the kicking foot of Burton Francis (20-13, 58 '). This try comes after a big sequence of Grenoble forwards, who obtained 3 consecutive penalties, then the temporary exclusion of Van Lill after the try. But the spark will not have long served: only moments after the return, Bayonne equalizes (20-20, 61 ').

The Grenoblois will then hoist the intenstity of their actions. After a kicking kick by Nigel Hunt, the FCG gets a touch in the 22 opponents. Following this, Dylan Hayes, in power, marks the third try of the FCG (25-20, 65 '). In the process, Adrien Latorre scored a penalty to secure the victory of the Grenoblois (28-20, 73 ').

The last minutes are nevertheless tense: Bayonne reduces the penalty score (28-23, 73 ') and plays his all-out. But it is Grenoble who gets the last opportunity. In the 22 opponents, the Grenoblois hold the ball, before David Melé sends the ball to Lolagi Visinia, in position of drop. But his attempt goes slightly aside. In the last minute, the Bayonnais fail to cross the defensive curtain Grenoble.

With this victory, the FCG remains in the lead pack of the Pro D2, before the other matches of the 17th day. After the truce, the "Red & Blue" will go to Massy before receiving Nevers.
