The Grenoblois hosted Perpignan this Thursday for the 21st round of Pro D2. In a particularly indecisive match, and despite the numerous fouls whistled against the Grenoblois, the "Rouge & Bleu" led for a long time, before being surprised at the very end of the match (17-24).
At the beginning of the match, Perpignan puts a lot of pressure on the isèroise defense, but it holds and manages to counter the Catalan assault. After a penalty missed by Burton Francis, it is the USAP that opens the score (0-3, 16 '). But in the process, the FCG marks a superb try, after a sequence full of power and speed, concluded by Lolagi Visinia (7-3, 21 ').
The Catalans hold the ball, but fail to be dangerous. It is finally on a bouncing ball that visitors score a first try (7-8, 36 '). The FCG rebounds: after a penalty missed by Burton Francis, the South African opener succeeds his next kick on the siren (10-8, 40 ').
In the second half, the Grenoblois start strong. Following a scrum at 5, Lilian Saseras carries the ball. Nigel Hunt transmits him up to Alaska Taufa, who score (17-8, 49 '). The Grenoblois will then fall back into their gaps: if the penalties conceded in the first half did not carry too much consequence, those of the second impact directly the score and Perpignan manages to equalize (17-17, 68 ').
The "Rouge & Bleu" have a strong time, but David Melé loses the ball and Pujol will mark, alone, the try of the USAP victory (17-24, 76 '). The Grenoblois will camp in the 22 opponents during the last minutes of the game, but they will never manage to equalize ...
This defeat will force even a little more Grenoblois to get points outside, starting with Vannes next Friday.
