Grenoble beat Mont-de-Marsan

  • Lolagi Visinia

Grenoble go back to the fourth place after this away victory (13-19)

It was a small feat of the Grenoblois, a little bad in recent weeks, to win on the lawn of Stade Montois, undefeated Guy Boniface since the beginning of the season.

The "Rouge & Bleu" start the game well and mark the first points of the match, before Mont-de-Marsan equalizes in stride (3-3, 6 '). The FCG is dominating at the beginning of the match and, after a penalty missed by the opposing opener, regains the lead in the score (3-6, 18 '). The Stade Montois will then have a long time, but the Grenoblois are present in defense and do not allow the locals to get opportunities to score. It is even Grenoble who will register a new penalty, just before the break (3-9, 40 ').

Mont-de-Marsan starts strongly the second half and gets two penalties: Gerber will score one, but will miss the second (6-9, 44 '). The Stade Montois dominates this period, but the Iroquois defense is well in place. The Grenoblois will even score the first try of the match: after a scrum, Franck Pourteau seeks Bastien Guillemin a long diagonal foot, the winger combines with Lolagi Visini and Alaska Taufa, David Melé then hit the foot in the 22 opponents, the counter is favorable and Lolagi Visinia marks his eleventh try of the season (3-16, 56 ')

After the dismissal, the Grenoblois fall into the trap of indiscipline: Daniel Kilioni wins a yellow card. If this numerical inferiority is well managed by the "Rouge & Bleu" at first, they will concede a penalty try (13-16, 70 '). The end of the match tense. It is the FCG that finishes the strongest, getting a penalty on the 22 opponents. Franck Pourteau scores his first points with Grenoble (13-19, 77 '). The "Rouge & Bleu" will manage perfectly the end of the match to maintain this victory and recover fourth place.

This victory also allows the "Rouge & Bleu" to almost ensure their participation in the finals (one point needed). The FCG will receive Carcasonne at the Stade des Alpes on Friday, to try to improve this victory.
