FCG in the final!

With less than 20% of the team visitors winners of the final matches of Pro D2 since 2005, the challenge for the Grenoblois announced immense Saturday in Montauban. But the "Rouge & Bleu" have brilliantly succeeded.

They start the match in the best way: after a very long sequence of possession of the ball, the Grenoblois pass the try line, in force, with their loosehead prop Sona Taumalolo (0-5, 4 ').

The Montalbanians react and, after a penalty of Jerome Bosviel (3-5, 13 '), they seek to pass into the goal Grenoble. After several mauls defended more or less lawfully by the FCG, Lucas Dupont takes a yellow card for accumulation of faults side Grenoble (23 '). But at 14 against 15, the Isérois will go up a notch in terms of defensive intensity and solidarity. Better, they manage to score a penalty by their number 9 (3-8, 30 '). And on the return to Lucas Dupont's field, Nigel Hunt can pierce the opposing defensive curtain in the middle of the field and, a few times later, Sona Taumalolo will score a second try, copied and pasted from the first one (3-15, 37 ' ).

The game is balanced early in the second period, but the Grenoble defense, well in place, prevents the locals to put their game and approach the 22 FCG. Back in the Montalban camp, it is finally the Grenoblois who will score: after a breakthrough Franck Pourteau, David Melé fake the pass and will mark the third try of the FCG (3-22, 56 ').

Montauban players will then speak their pride to pick up the score. They multiply the mauls and it ends up paying with the try of Jeremy Chaput behind his forwards (10-22, 62 '). Assented to a penalty after this test, the Grenoblois see immediately return the Montalbanais in their camp. The "Rouge & Bleu" are intractable and can hold their line until the 77th minute of play, when Amédée Domenech, the captain of the USM, concludes a new drive ball (15-22, 77 ').

The last moments are unbreathable: Montauban gets two new penalties to win a touch at 5 meters from the goal line Grenoble. The siren sounded. The ball lands in the hands of Montalban, the maul is formed, but the referee whistles a fault of the fronts "Vert & Noir"! Lolagi Visinia can hit, Grenoble players and fans can excite: the FCG is in the final of Pro D2!
