He is the new Team Manager
Romain David has retired a few weeks ago. After having spent 26 seasons with the FCG, he had signed with US Dax, where he played for four years. He integrates the FCG staff as Team Manager.
You ended your rugbyman career a few weeks ago. It is not easy?
"Yes, it is never easy, but we have to anticipate those moments. I had the chance to choose the moment I wanted to stop. I announced to Dax last summer that it would be my last season and that I wanted to go back to the Grenoble region. At first, I did not want to continue in the rugby area, but I still have in my head the idea to play in a small club in the region. My only certainty was that I wanted to go back to Grenoble, at home, with my family and friends, and to finish the house we are building."
You did not have in mind to come back to the Club?
"I had a phone call from Franck Corrihons at the end of April. He explained that Andrew would leave the Club to go back to Australia. And he thought about me for this job. We met and we quickly agree. I a the new Team Manager. I will be in charge ot the logistics coordination and the global organisation of the team."
How do you feel about this come-back in the Club, where you started at the age of 6?
"It is weird to be back. I feel like I had left for a long time. But, when I was back at Lesdiguières, I had the feeling that I never left. I sincerly am very happy and grateful to Michel Martinez and Frank Corrihons for giving me the opportunity to be back. The FCG simply is my Club."
