The second home opponent of the season
La Section Paloise will be the second opponent of the FCG this season at the Stade des Alpes on Sunday. Promoted to the Top 14 in 2015, after 9 years of Pro D2, the Palois club, with the support of its main partner, is progressing every year: 10th in 2016, 9th in 2017, 8th last season. This year, the Section wants to go even further and fight for the Top 6, based on a team that has changed little this summer.
The star player
Colin Slade arrived in Pau as soon as the club returned in the Top 14. The two-time world champion All-Black is the metronome of his team. He also provides precision in the play at the foot and in front of the posts.
The ex
The number 2 position has long been a former "Rouge & Bleu" lair in Pau, with Thomas Bianchin and Mehdi Boundjema. Laurent Bouchet is now the only hooker (and only player) in the Section to have played for the FCG. Laurent Bouchet played 95 matches with Grenoble between 2011 and 2017, the year he left for Béarn.
The last match between the 2 teams
During the 2016-2017 Top 14 season, the FCG lost at the last second, in a particularly animated game (38-39), after a penalty from Tom Taylor. Sona Taumaolo and Fabrice Estebanez scored the two Grenoble tries, Jonathan Wisniewski scoring all the other points.
The last games
La Section Paloise had a mixed start. Heavily beaten in Bordeaux for the first round (41-19), the Palois then beat RC Toulon last weekend at the Hameau (20-10)
Upcoming matches
After the trip to Grenoble, Pau will host Clermont, then the Stade Français.
