Away game in Castres

  • Armand Batlle

The FCG will play against the champions

After two matches at the Stade des Alpes, the Grenoble team are back on the road and will head to Castres on Saturday to visit the French champion. Sixth at the end of the regular phase, the Castrais then won in Toulouse (11-23), then in the semi against Racing 92 (14-19) before winning in the final against Montpellier (29-13). The OC, managed for a final season by Christophe Urios, will seek this year to overcome the curse that hits the defending champion, finishing within 6.

The star player

True to its history, the Olympic Castles relies on a collective rather than on individualities. However, this summer the OC hired Scott Spedding. The French international, who went through Brive, Bayonne and Clermont, has already made a name for himself by scoring two tries in two matches, with a double against Montpellier.

The former FCG player

Armand Batlle left the FCG for Castres at the end of the 2016-2017 season. In two seasons, the Catalan quickly won the Tarn squad: for his first season, he played in 26 of the 29 Top 14 matches, including all the final stages. He scored 12 tries, including a double in the play-off match in Toulouse.

The last match between the 2 teams

In the 2016-2017 season, the FCG lost heavily at Stade Pierre Fabre, with a score of 46 to 9.

The last games

Castres won his first two matches of the season in Montpellier (20-25), then against Lyon (19-16), before losing in the final minutes of the match in Toulon (28-27)

Upcoming matches

After the reception in Grenoble, Castres will travel to the Racing 92 pitch and then to Toulouse for the derby.
