The FCG lost severely to Agen at the Stade des Alpes (11-29)
On Saturday, the "Rouge & Bleu" hosted Agen, the team that preceded the FCG in the ranking. The Grenoble team had to win to keep all the chances of staying directly in the Top 14, without going through the play-off.
The match started well for the Grenoble team, who quickly led thanks to a try by Bastien Guillemin, following a small kick by Gaëtan Germain (8-0, 16'). But the FCG, will start to completely thwart him and see Agen, inexorably, pass him by. By penalties first, then a test under the posts just before half-time (8-13, 39')
The Isèrois will never be able to catch up. In the second half, they were far too clumsy to be able to put the opponents' defence in danger. It was even the Agenais who widened the gap (11-22, 62'). In the last minutes of the match, Clément Laporte, on counter-attack, score the final try of the match, which allows Agen to stay in the Top 14.
For the FCG, the chances of direct maintenance are now minimal: it would be necessary to obtain two improved victories in the last two games, while hoping that Pau would not take any points.
