Sylvain Begon will be the new forwards coach for FC Grenoble Rugby for the next two seasons.
Sylvain Begon played almost all his career as a follower at the FCG from 1991 to 2001 (2 years at the FCS Rumilly). He then became coach of the pro team's forwards from 2007 to 2015 and participated in the Club's rise to the Top 14 in 2012 (he was distinguished that year as best ProD2 Staff with Franck Corrihons and Fabrice Landreau). A mission that he decided to undertake in December 2015. However, he has never left the "Rouge & Bleu" house since he has been in charge of the Club's Espoirs for the last 3 seasons.
Sylvain will be in charge of the Forward of the FCG for next season and will collaborate with the entire Staff (Stéphane Glas, Cyril Villain, Jérôme Vernay and Jean Noël Perrin) on the offensive animation as well as the defense. Jean Noël Perrin keeps his mission as scrum coach. Next year, the FCG will therefore have a 100% regional staff with coaches who, with the exception of Stéphane Glas (Bourgoin), have all worn the FCG jersey.
Sylvain Begon will be 100% at the FCG as he has announced to the French Rugby Federation that he will not be taking care of the U20 next year as originally planned.
"It is a great pleasure for me to accept the mission entrusted to me. It's not really a comeback for me since I've never left the Club. I have been working for 3 years with Franck Corrihons and all the educators and responsible for the training course on young people and this is perfectly in line with what we want to set up on the professional team. I know the club well but also all the members of the professional staff and I have no doubt that we can join forces together to serve our team. "Sylvain Begon, FCG forwards coach.
"We are really very happy to have been able to find an agreement with Sylvain so that he can join our professional staff. Sylvain has always been at the service of the Club and I deeply believe that he was the ideal person for the project we want to set up, which will be based more than ever on the training he knows very well. "Michel Martinez, President of the FCG.
