FCG double in Provence

After its victory in Carcassonne last weekend, the FCG went to one of the teams that had won its first two matches: Provence Rugby.

The "Rouge & Bleu" started the match perfectly. Gaëtan Germain got the ball. He ran through the defense of Provence. The Grenoble full-back fixed his counterpart and sent Clément Ancely to score the first try of the match (0-7, 2')

The Grenoblois, particularly effective in defense, prevented the locals from advancing in the Isèrois camp. The "Rouge & Bleu" also took advantage of a less successful Clément Darbo to return to the dressing room 13 points ahead at the break (3-16)

After ten minutes of play in the second half, the FCG were in the opponents 22, almost for the first time since Clément Ancely's try at the start of the game. But Mr. Rozier's linesman saw a foul by Davit Kubriashvili, and the Georgian tight-head prop got a yellow card. This foul allowed Provence to return to the Grenoble camp, but it was finally the FCG that got the best opportunity after a big run from Enzo Selponi, but Bastien Guillemin was stopped just before the try-line. Gaëtan Germain nevertheless adds a penalty after this action (3-19, 53')

Provence finally managed to score its first try of the game, just after the FCG was back at 15, thanks to a kick from his fly-half, who found Thomas Lacelle at the end of the line (10-19, 60')

The Grenoblois then suffered the assaults of the Provençal players for a few minutes. But it is Alaska Taufa that will deliver the Isèrois. After a scrum in the middle of the field, Lucas Dupont passed the ball to his number 12, piercing the first defensive line, eliminating the full-back and scoring near the posts (10-26, 73')

Adrien Bau's try at the end of the match did not change anything (17-26, 79'): the FCG won its second consecutive trip.

The "Rouge & Bleu" will host Aurillac (beaten today at home by Béziers) next week. It will be necessary to obtain a new victory for the first block to be successful.
