Third bonus point-victory in a row

  • Fabien Alexandre
  • Edgar Tuinukuafe
  • Alaska Taufa
  • Raymond Rhule

FCG earned the bonus point at the end of the game (46-21)

Nevers was in Grenoble for the last game of the eighth round of Pro D2. With twelve points, the ambitious Burgundian club does not necessarily evolve in the spheres it aims to reach. After an epidemic and a disrupted start to the season, the Nivernais came to Grenoble to catch up on the lost points.

But the "Rouge & Bleu" had other plans: at the beginning of the match, the FCG took off on the scoreboard with tries scored by Alaska Taufa and Corentin Glénat (17-0, 12'). Nevers took a hit on the head, but reacted immediately by scoring his first try of the match (17-7, 14')

Without being in great difficulty, the "Rouge & Bleu" nevertheless let the visitors come back to the score just before half-time (17-14, 37')

We then expect a very tight second half, but the Grenoble residents, and especially Raymond Rhule, do not hear him with the same ear. As soon as the half-time was over, the South African winger showed his speed to score two consecutive tries and join Alaska Taufa as the FCG's best try scorer (34-14 ,50')

The game balanced again, but the Grenoble team kept their opponents well away from their try zone. On the other hand, they were unable to score a new try, which would have been synonymous with an offensive bonus. Worse, after the yellow card sanctioning the illegal tackle of Ange Capuozzo, Nevers managed to score his third try (34-21, 73')

After a new yellow card conceded by Dylan Jacquot, we thought we had said goodbye to the bonus hopes for the FCG, but the "Rouge & Bleu" will show incredible solidarity. First, on an Alaska Taufa interception, well followed by Junior Rasolea, Fabien Alexandre scored for the FCG (39-21, 77')

Back at 14, the Grenoble team will operate in a long collective action, concluded under the posts by Edgar Tuinukuafe, who came into play a few minutes earlier (46-21, 80')

With this bonus-point victory, the FCG strengthened its leadership position at the end of this second block. The "Rouge & Bleu" will resume the competition on November 1st, with a trip to Vannes.
