FCG players will return to Montauban on Friday
At the heart of the most difficult block of the season, where it will have to face 3 candidates declared in the final stages, FCG moves to Montauban, currently 13th in the ranking. What would appear to be a respite for the Grenoble giants has all the trap to avoid!
If the Montalbanais are not as sovereign in Sapiac as they were in previous seasons (3 defeats in 9 games), they have nevertheless hung Biarritz (15-14) and Oyonnax (21-15) on their chase list.
Still led by Jerome Bosviel (second scorer in the championship with 217 points), USM is struggling to cross the goal line with 15 tries scored in their 9 home games (only Rouen and Valence-Romans did less well). Defensive rigour, but above all discipline, will be two variables to be adjusted by the Isère group, if they want to get a sixth victory away from home.
Latest results
Montauban has suffered 3 defeats in its last 4 games, all away: in Biarritz (30-27), in Soyaux-Angoulême (35-16) and in Aix-en-Provence last weekend (36-20). Meanwhile, the Montalbanais had beaten Oyonnax in Sapiac (21-15).
The next games
Montauban will go to Carcassonne after Grenoble's reception, then will receive Perpignan and then Provence Rugby twice in a row for a late match.
The last Montauban-FCG
In the semi-final of Pro D2 in 2018, the "Rouge & Bleu" won in Sapiac (15-22), with a double by Sona Taumalolo and a try by David Mélé.
