We Skypeed Bastien Guillemin to see how he felt about containment.
First question, how are you?
"I'm fine. I'm confined to the city center, in Grenoble. I don't have a garden... The only place I have a little light is in my kitchen, under a glass roof. It's quite complicated, but we make do with it. "
We know you like to be outdoors, you go hiking, golfing. This confinement must be particularly frustrating for you?
"Totally. It's complicated. But we're thinking about your health first. You deal with it and you wait. You have to be patient. But of course I miss rugby, golf... all that! "
Can you still manage to do a bit of sport, follow the physical prep programs?
"Yes, I've got a bit of equipment, some weights. I manage to work out at home. For the race, I do around the area: sprints, hill climbs. I really can't stay at home completely, I feel like a rat in a cage. "
How do you manage to fill your days?
"Workout, run. I play the guitar, I play the play. Right now, I'm playing Fortnite and Fifa. Trying to read. I got the latest book by Mike Horn. We're keeping busy as we can. "
On Instagram, we see you in the kitchen, too.
"I don't cook at all. We bought a Thermomix, so every day my girlfriend makes me nice meals. But I don't cook at all, it's kind of my flaw. My girlfriend tries to teach me, but I really can't. I love to eat, but cooking is really not for me. "
Do you have any relatives on the front lines during this time?
"Yes, my mother is a nurse in EHPAD in Vernoux-en-Vivarais, in the middle of the Ardèche. There are about a hundred patients, former patients. It's quite complicated for her. She's at the front every day. I send her courage every day. I hope she'll be all right. "
You got any plans for after lockdown yet? An 18-hole in the Bahamas?
"Frankly, I'm going straight to Bresson. I'm gonna get in the grass and breathe in the nature. Honestly, I can't take it anymore. Honestly, I'm going to see my family, my girlfriend's family, and get some fresh air. "
