FCG lost in Colomiers (15-12)
We had a real winter game of Pro D2 this Thursday in Colomiers. Neither team ever really took the game in hand and it was the discipline and penalties that tipped the balance in favour of the locals.
In the first half, the Grenoble players are struggling on the fundamentals and remain stuck in their camp. If they do score a penalty on their first foray into the opposing camp, they conceded 3 at the same time (9-3). The take-offs are rare, and it is Colomiers who had the best opportunity to score a try just before the break. On this one, Jerome Rey receives a yellow card.
In the second half, Colomérins were very close to scoring a first try as early as the 45th minute of play, but the referee felt that Vici had passed the ball forward. The game is a little more upbeat. The Grenoble players, in particular, are more willing, but also too clumsy to be really dangerous. Here too, it is the goalscorers who stand out and both teams approach the last 10 minutes with 6 points of difference (15-9).
The " Rouge & Bleu " will then have a chance to score a try. Benito Masilevu is served. Rather than passing to Steeve Blanc-Mappaz on the wing, the Fijian winger runs towards the end. He is blocked by Vici, but can turn around. The referee does not grant the try, considering that the Columerin player had his hand under the ball. On this action, Enzo Selponi brings his team back in the defensive bonus on penalty (15-12).
The last moments of the game are confused. Both teams have the opportunity to be dangerous, but it is finally the Columerins who get a penalty on the halfway line, on the siren. Fortunately for the Grenoble players, Girard's kick is too short and goes under the crossbar.
With this defensive bonus point, the FCG does not advance in the standings, but gets a third consecutive bonus point on the move. A small consolation, one week away from hosting Biarritz at the Stade des Alpes.
