One point defeat for Grenoble

  • Antonin Berruyer

The FCG played in Nevers this friday night

Beaten at home by Béziers last week, USO Nevers players could not afford to lose a second consecutive time in their Pre Fleuri stadium. Grenoble, on a series of three victories, obviously did not want to let themselves go!

The start of the game is open, but the defenses are effective, especially that of Nevers, which manages to respect the "Rouge & Bleu". Two small kicks were scored in the first half hour (3-3, 25 '). It is finally Nevers who will score the first attempt of the game, on a beautiful combination in touch, concluded in the try zone by Bolakoro (8-3, 31 ').

Etienne Dussartre finds the interval after a ball by Steven Setephano in the scrum. It is taken a few meters from the opposing line, but Antonin Berruyer follows well to mark his first professional try (8-10, 34 '). David Mélé will miss the gap just before the break.

He will nevertheless arrive at the start of the second half (8-13, 42 '). The "Rouge & Bleu" dominate the game, create some hot situations, but for lack of control, can not manage to score. Nevers then packed the game to quickly return to the score (14-13, 58 '). After a particularly disorganized action, the FCG finally obtains a penalty, passed by David Mélé (14-16, 61 '), before Grenoble is penalized following a key for the "Rouge & Bleu" (17-16, 64' ).

The end of the game is difficult for Grenoble, who resist well. It is even the "Rouge & Bleu" who will have the last opportunity to score after a penalty from the FCG scrum. The Grenoble players will hold the ball on 22 opponents, before David Mélé tries to drop. Who will pass unfortunately next door.

This loss defeated at least one notch the FCG in the ranking (after the victory of Montauban in Vannes and before the match of Perpignan Sunday in Aurillac) Les Grenoblois will receive next Friday Vannes, then Biarritz Olympique the following week
