First win for FCG

  • Gaëtan Germain
  • Raymond Rhule

The FCG scored its first win of the season in the Top 14 by winning the promoted team's match against Perpignan (31-22). A very early try by Raymond Rhule and especially 26 points by Gaëtan Germain allowed the FCG to win, despite the 3 tries scored by Perpignan.

The game is off to a bad start for the people of Grenoble. Leva Fififta took a yellow card after a few seconds of play and Perpignan opened the scoring (0-3, 3'), but the Grenoble team then took the game to their own devices. Raymond Rhule took advantage of a big break from Alaska Taufa, well relayed by Taleta Tupuola, to score the first try of the match (7-3, 12').

Gaëtan Germain then converted all his kicks to widen the gap and allow the FCG to arrive with a comfortable lead at half-time (16-3)

The second half started badly for the Grenoble team, as Lam quickly scored a try transformed by his usher (16-10, 42'). But the "Rouge & Bleu", dominators in the melee, will investigate the points, thanks to Gaëtan Germain's boot (25-10, 61'). Perpignan then took advantage of a touch stolen by his forwards to score a second try (25-15, 66'), then a third, just moments before the end of the match. But, in the meantime, the FCG rearguard, Gaëtan Germain, had still scored two more penalties, giving his team the advantage of their final team (31-22)

With this victory, the FCG widened the gap with its pursuer and came back to within one point of Montpellier (-1 match), two of Agen and three of Pau (-1 match) and Toulon before the derby next weekend.
