A post away of the win

  • Gaëtan Germain
  • Beka Gigashvili
  • Alaska Taufa

The Grenbols get the draw against the leader (27-27)

A very big piece was waiting for the FCG on Saturday afternoon at the Stade des Alpes, for the ninth day of the Top 14. Despite the absence of its French internationals, the ASM presented a very attractive face.

The beginning of the game is particularly closed. It is the goalscorers who make the score but these do not seem to be on a good day. A failure for Fernandez, two for Germain and a score of 3-3 in the 30th minute of play. Perhaps that's why the Grenoble residents choose to hit the ball when the referee whistles a corner penalty. If the touch is blocked at the back of the line, Beka Gigashvili takes advantage of the rebound to score the first try of the match (8-3, 35'). The Grenoble rearguard will add a penalty just before half-time to allow his team to return home with an 8-point lead (11-3, 38')

The second half got off to a bad start for the Grenoble side, with Raka breaking through the defence and Timani closing (11-10, 42'). The Fijian winger then scored himself (14-20, 57'). Gaëtan Germain then equalised thanks to two penalties (20-20, 64'), but the "Rouge & Bleu" would concede another try after a full centre breakthrough (20-27, 68').

The Grenoble team will be holding the ball in the last ten minutes. They will score a try after a scrum under the posts, by Alaska Taufa (27-27, 75')

The last possession will be Grenoble: the "Rouge & Bleu" advance from theirs and arrive in the opposing camp. They get a penalty on the 40 opponents in the corner. Gaëtan Germain tents it, on the siren, but the balloon fails on the pole.

With this second consecutive draw, the Grenoble team achieved a very good performance against the Clermont-Ferrand leader. They will take advantage of a week's vacation to rest.
