65 years ago, the FCG was crowned French champion

The one and only first division title for Grenoble

On 23 May 1954, the FCG won the French Rugby Championship title in Toulouse against Cognac. The "Rouge & Bleu" had qualified in the final by beating Mazamet (14-12), Agen (11-3), Vienna (3-0) and Romans (8-5) after the group stage.

After Meynard's opening score for Cognac on penalty (0-3, 21'), the Grenoble side were led at half-time. But the Isèrois, supported by many supporters, managed to take the lead after Lanfranchi's try, converted by Echevet (5-3, 58')
