"The players have to take their revenge"

  • Stéphane Glas

Stéphane Glas is expecting that his players to do more against Béziers than the week before in Vannes

Béziers, the opponent of the day

"Since we started the championship, we've feared everyone. We still know the difficulty of the Pro D2. We are always very attentive before our games, to our weeks and team compositions, to the way we manage our weeks. Because we know that every weekend is a difficult and important game. And it's also against Béziers. Which is a team with character. Who is able to come out of very, very good games. With good players. We remain very vigilant. »

A trap match

"Once again, I'm going to repeat the same thing a little bit, but all games are trap games for me. It's a difficult team to maneuver. Who's strong. Who has good players. It is up to us to prepare it well. But for me, the trap game is every weekend. »

The defeat in Vannes

"Clearly, about our strategy, about our aggressiveness. We spent the first 25 minutes, where we were not at all involved. On these two themes. They have a revenge to take.  About what they proposed last week. Clearly. I hope they will make us forget their performance at Vannes. Clearly, you can't expect a team to be so passive in the fight, in the way they engage and even in the strategic choices they make at the beginning of the Vannes game. Over the first 25 minutes. So yes, we are waiting for something else. »

Winter conditions

"Yes, it requires effective adaptation to the conditions. We'll see what the conditions are. But at 8:45 p. m. in the middle of November, I have no illusions. We've been working on this. Especially in relation to the Vannes match where we had rather difficult conditions. That was one of the themes of the week as well. Video feedback. We have to be able to put in some game volume. We know how to do that. We must be able to adapt better to the conditions. I think we were able to do it at the beginning of the season. I think we missed the Vannes game. This is a warning. Once again, it's up to the boys to react. »

Two last difficult winters

"That's right. For different reasons, I think. Two years ago, we were in a lot of trouble on the closed melee. And it's true that we had had a difficult winter. Even if it had been.... We don't have a scrum that dominated the championship over the Pro D2 season two years ago. We really had deficiencies at that level. But you can see it much more in winter, indeed. That was two years ago. Last year, I think that losing Loïc Godener, Steven Setephano and Leva Fifita in front, over the same period, and for 3 months. Even if, in closed melee, however, we were much better last year. We really had a very, very good scrum last year. The 3 players like that, powerful in front, who bring us progress. It also penalized us. On the melee this year, we're doing pretty well. And I hope that, simply, we will not have too many injuries on important positions. »

A team armed for the winter

"I think we have the staff for it, we have the team for it. Obviously, if there is a job where you are decimated by injuries, but, like all clubs, it can get complicated. We have the staff to respond to any situation, any time. Once again, we missed out on Vannes. I hope it's just an accident. »

Training conditions

" (They change) a little bit about the game weeks. Over the weeks. After the games, it's up to us to adapt. But a little bit about the game weeks. Because we have, between rain, sometimes snow, sometimes frost, we have very different ground conditions. We don't always get help on snow removal. Last year, I remember a snowy episode during the week from Toulouse to Toulouse. We couldn't train under normal conditions. That is, we've been training in 10 centimeters of snow all week. And to prepare for a match in Toulouse, it's not ideal. »
