FCG take back the lead of the Pro D2 after the victory over Montauban (28-9)

Double confrontation at the Stade des Alpes for the "Rouge & Bleu": a week after the reception and the victory over Béziers, the Grenoble team hosted Montauban this Sunday afternoon.

The Grenoble team dominated the whole game, especially in the first half, but were too clumsy, too imprecise or too impatient to get a comfortable victory. In cool and rainy conditions, the Isèrois rely on their driving mauls to score. In the first half, it works twice. First, by Dylan Jacquot (8-3, 18'), then by Etienne Fourcade (18-6, 29').

The second half was a little more complicated for the FCG, even if Montauban was never dangerous. The Grenoble team struggled to reach the 22 opponents (Corentin Glenat could not find the line-out in the 53rd minute), before finally camping near the opponent's line. The Grenoble forwards, in difficulty in the melee, but largely dominating in the touchline or on the mauls, tried several driving mauls, but Montauban reacted well and could protect its line. It is finally on his last opportunity that the FCG will register a third try on a driving maul, concluded by Laurent Bouchet on the siren (28-9, 80')

Thanks to this bonus-point victory, the FCG regained the lead of the Pro D2, a week before a dangerous trip to Perpignan.
