Grenoble continue its winning streak with a fifth away victory (16-25)

This match in Béziers looked like a trap game for the "Rouge & Bleu", on the field of a team that has not yet won in 2020. However, the Grenoble players unfolded their game plan throughout the match, to logically win and take the lead of the championship, at least until Sunday.

Enzo Selponi, on a broken arm, missed from the start of the match and sent the ball straight to the touchline. On the action that followed, Béziers got a penalty and scored the first points of the match (3-0, 5'). The opener will be forgiven a few moments later. On the first Iberian incursion into the opposing camp, the number 10 of the FCG kicks over the defence, the ball bounces in the end zone and deceives 3 players from Beziers. Enzo Selponi followed up well and scored the first try of the match (3-7, 8').

After a second penalty from Porical (6-7, 17'), the Isle of Man proved particularly effective in defence, preventing their opponents from entering their 22. Better still, on each of their attacks, the "Red & Blue" were rewarded with penalties, allowing Gaëtan Germain to sign his return (6-16, 39').

The second half began in the same vein, with Grenoble's effective side (6-19, 45'), even if the FCG rearguard missed his first kick. The Biterrois, back on ten points (9-19, 54'), were too clumsy to hope for better for the moment and Grenoble widened the gap further on the hour mark (9-22, 61').

The home side finally took advantage of a 14 on 14 sequence to raise the tempo and destabilise Grenoble's defensive line. They scored a collective try and gave themselves the right to hope (16-22, 68').

But the Isèrois are moving forward again. Gaëtan Germain pulled one back, sealing victory for the Grenoble side (16-25, 73'). The ASBH players will try to get back into the defensive bonus. In vain.

The FCG thus signed a fourth consecutive victory (a small feat, when we know the recent performances of Grenoble in winter), before going to Nevers, moved up to fifth place, to finish this block. The "Rouge & Bleu" are first, waiting for the match of Perpignan in Mont-de-Marsan on Sunday.
