Trip under pressure

Grenoble will play in Oyonnax on Thursday

In difficulty for the last few weeks, as evidenced by the draw against Biarritz at the Stade des Alpes, the "Rouge & Bleu" are in search of redemption as the last match of the bouldering season looms, before a break of two weekends without a match. But this trip will be no easy task for the Isèrois, as they will travel to Oyonnax, where the Oyomen will also be under pressure.

Indeed, this match against FCG is likely to be one of their last chances of reaching one of the top two places in the standings, which would qualify them directly for the semi-finals. At home, the Ain players have conceded just one defeat (against Rouen on 14 February), but they are currently in a difficult phase too, with three wins in their last nine games, including the defeat conceded at the Stade des Alpes in the first leg.

Deprived of Davit Kubriashvili, who will be suspended, the Grenoble side, who showed their best form in the scrum against Biarritz, will be expected to play in this sector of the game, as well as in the discpline, which they lacked in their last two matches. The Oyonnaxians will hope to build on that on Thursday.

Latest results

Oyonnax lost at home to Rouen (22-23), then beat Beziers (25-21), before losing to Colomiers (22-19).

The next games

After the break, the USO will go to Perpignan, receive Aurillac and move to Nevers.

The last Oyonnax-FCG

The last official match between the two teams took place in April 2016. FCG had won 20-27, thanks in particular to a try by Mahamadou Diaby at the very end of the match. In a friendly, the Oyonnaxians had beaten FCG in August 2017 (33-21).
