"I let the things go"

  • Steeve Blanc-Mappaz

We checked on Steeve Blanc-Mappaz, who is in the area of Albertville during the lockdown

- Tell me, where are you confined? Are you in Grenoble?

- I'm near Albertville, in Césarches. At a friend's house. There are several of us, we're confined together. At the beginning, I was alone in Grenoble. It was a bit complicated. We joined up with several friends who were alone.

- It's a bit more festive.

- That's what I mean. Yeah, festive, no. But it's cooler, though.

- How are you doing these days?

- Look, it's always annoying. Afterwards, we put it into perspective and we tell ourselves there are worse things than us. Here, look, I'm just letting things happen. I'll take it as it comes. There you go.

- How do you spend your days?

- Well, we play a lot of FIFA and Switch games, with a bit of sport too, from time to time, because we have to keep in shape. We try to do the best we can.

- Series, movies, you watch?

- Yeah, we watch a little bit. I did a few shows in early confinement. I kind of gave up on that, though.

- You got one to recommend?

- Yeah,I liked Black Baron, with Kad Merad. He was very good. Validated too, which is another style. What else did I watch...? I watched Braquo again. Mafiosa too.

- Are you staying in the French series?

- That's right. I'm staying in the French series. But I also watched the Spanish series...

- Casa de Papel?

- No, I never watched it, though. The other one.

- One, dos, tres?

- That's older.

- How do you keep in touch with the other players, the team, the staff?

- I was away in Madrid with a couple of the team players. So we have a group and we write to each other almost every day, all day long. And then, the others, we have the group in common. And we write to each other via social networks.

- We have a deconfinement date. Do you already know if you have an agenda, a cover version? How's that gonna go? You don't? It's still the expectation?

- We had a video meeting with the doctor on Wednesday. Who explained a little bit about the protocol he wanted to put in place for the recovery. It's a little complicated. So, at this point, we have no idea. At first glance, it would be the end of June, but we don't know more than that. The club hasn't told us much about it. We're still a bit on hold. That's good, there's the deconfinement. But if we have to stay home again and not do much, it's a bit complicated.

- You should still be able to do a few short hikes and run a little bit. That's stuff I think you like.

- Yeah, it is. We'll definitely be able to move around a little bit more, that's good. We're starting to miss rugby too, you know.

- Thanks, Steve, I won't take up any more of your time.

- No worries.

- It's good to hear from you. I'll see you around.
