Another victory for Grenoble

On the 20th day of the championship, FCG (7th) hosted Aurillac (11th) at the Stade des Alpes.

On paper, one could have imagined a one-way match, Grenoble having lined up the big team against a reworked Aurillac line-up. However, in the first half, it was indeed the Cantalous who held the ball. With 63% of possession in the first half, Aurillac regularly endangers the FCG. Proud of a good defence, the Isère team didn't break down and even managed to score a counter-attack thanks to Ange Capuozzo (20th), and Aurillac responded (25th, Valentin). Reduced to 14 after a yellow card against Trouilloud, the FCG had no other choice but to play with their backs to half-time.
At the break, FCG leads 10-5.

Ping-pong rugby is played at the beginning of the second half until cleverly applied game times in front of the line and Steeve Blanc-Mappaz comes to flatten a corner winger's try. Solid but rough, the Iberians pound but don't kill the match, until the try of Tanginoa Halaifonua (70th) who, after a ruck close to the line, stretches his arm to go and score.
Grenoble will have a last possession at the very end of the match to try to snatch the offensive bonus, but it won't work.
We stay at 24-5.

Grenoble remains 7th with 47 points but catches up a little bit with Nevers, 6th. Aurillac drops back to 12th place.
