After eight months away from the field, Théo Nanette will return to competition this weekend during the FCG's trip to Biarritz
After long months without playing, you must be looking forward to play again?
"Yeah, that's right. Since last April. So I can't wait, like you said, to play again, to put the crampons back on. And then to relive good sensations on the field. »
How did you experience this injury and this long period away from the field?
"With a lot of philosophy. I lived it well. Because, fatally, there's nothing we can do about it. Once it's there, it's there. When the ligament is broken, overnight, it will not repair itself. So I worked a lot on my side, with the staff, with the physiotherapists and the prep. And I used it as a strength, as an opportunity, precisely, to come back a little stronger and better. »
Are you impatient or do you dread this recovery a little?
"Impatience, there's always a little bit of it. Because besides, we're a competitor. I wanted to play. I have to want to play. From the moment I got the green light from the surgeon, the medical staff and everyone else, I wanted to take a little bit of time to play. After that, apprehension, no more than that. At least not so much about the injury, about the old knee injury. It would be more about rugby, rhythm, a little bit more competition. But I've been preparing for this. Everything should be fine. »
You start with a tough game.
"Not easy. Then I won't complain about it. It's always more interesting to play games with stakes. Where it may not be easy to go and manoeuvre a Biarritz team. But that's what we love. That's what's at stake. These are challenges. So we're going to go over there and do something. Above all, do our best. We'll see about that. »
Biarritz is undefeated in his stadium. It's a real challenge to win there.
"After that, every weekend is a challenge. I have the impression that the Pro D2 has made quite a bit of progress. Every weekend is difficult. Staying undefeated at home is not easy. We know that it's going to be a tough game there. We'll do our best. We prepared for, not to be ridiculous, and even better than that. Impose a big fight on the BO team. »
You haven't had a chance to play with Enzo Selponi so far. How's your deal with your fly-half?
"After that, Enzo, we're the same age, we're of the same generation. We played against each other. Together, not too much. Quickly made. But it's a good 10. It means it's that kind of 10 where it's easy to play with him. Even though we didn't have much time to work together, everything will be fine. »
Between Deon Fourie in 8 and Enzo Selponi in 10, you should be comfortable enough?
"I'll tell you that after the game. But I think there are worse configurations. »
